Vector Industries CEO Chrissy Johnston reached out to Derek Eberhard at Home Depot in Waynesboro several months ago to see if the local retailer could assist with a project outfitting kitchen space at Vector’s new home on Hopeman Parkway.
Eberhard “jumped at the opportunity,” he said this week, put a team together and got everybody on location to install cabinets in the kitchen and adjoining office space.
“The team got the job done very quickly and efficiently, and it looks great. I appreciate her giving us the opportunity to do it for her and let us support the community here in Waynesboro,” Eberhard said.
Founded in 1969, Vector Industries employs and trains persons with diverse disabilities to enable them to reach their potential as productive community members. The non-profit announced in February that it had closed the 1300 Hopeman Parkway space that will allow Vector Industries to expand its offerings in warehousing, light assembly and office space.
“If you’ve ever done any carpentry work, you know it’s not easy,” Johnston said. “These cabinets came in a box, and they had to figure out how to do it. These guys did a great job, and we’d like to thank them on behalf of Vector Industries and the board of directors for their donation to our new facility.”
Bill Mullins, the manager of the Waynesboro Home Depot store location, was part of the work crew on location at the new Vector Industries location this week.
“At Home Depot, we have core values that we live by, and one of our core values is giving back to our community,” Mullins said. “We can think of no way than to help Vector Industries help other folks within the community. This is a great way to give back to the community that we’re a part of.”
