bridgewaterJeff Alt will present “Life Lessons from the Trail” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, in Cole Hall at Bridgewater College. The event is free and open to the public.

A hiking expert, Alt is the author of A Walk for Sunshine, Four Boots One Journey and Get Your Kids Hiking: How to Start Them Young and Keep it Fun.

With generous doses of humor, Alt entertains and inspires audiences with a dynamic multimedia presentation that links his hiking adventures to themes such as goal setting, survival, taking risks, perseverance, overcoming obstacles and making a difference.  Those adventures include walking the 2,160-mile Appalachian Trail and the 218-mile John Muir Trail, plus a trek across Ireland with his family.

His adventures have been featured on Discoverychannel.com, ESPN’s Inside America’s National Parks, the Hallmark Channel, CNN-Radio, USA Today, USA Radio Network and Scholastic Parent & Child.

Alt hosts the annual Sunshine Walk, 5K Run & Roll to help individuals with developmental disabilities. The event was inspired by his Appalachian Trail journey.

Alt is a member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA).
