Harrisonburg Turks outslug Waynesboro Generals, 10-6

generals-turks2Michael Brosseau and Jose Estrada homered for Waynesboro, but the Generals couldn’t overcome a rough start from Robert Pearson in a 10-6 loss to the Harrisonburg Turks Friday night.

Pearson (0-2, 8.04 ERA) gave up nine runs on nine hits in five and a third innings to take the loss.

Waynesboro (9-13) got back into the game with a four-run sixth. Down 6-1 entering the inning, the Generals got a run on a Turks error, another on an RBI single by Jonathan Camp and then a pair on a two-run homer by Estrada, his first dinger of the season.

But Pearson and the Generals bullpen gave the runs right back in the bottom of the sixth. Pearson loaded the bases with nobody out, and then reliever Jordan Harmon walked Shane Billings, gave up an RBI single to Joe Lytle, walked Jesse Baker and then gave up an RBI single to Jared Baker.

Brosseau hit a solo homer with two outs in the seventh to cut the margin to 10-6, but that would be it for the night. The Generals went down in order in the eighth and ninth.

Tucker McCoy (2-0, 2.70 ERA) got the win for the Turks (17-6), giving up five runs, four earned, on four hits in six innings of work, striking out five and walking two.
