A 16-year-old has been arrested after crashing a stolen vehicle into an occupied Harrisonburg Police Department cruiser.

The driver and an 18-year-old passenger were located by HPD in the Skyline Village Shopping Center on East Market Street at 9 p.m. tonight.

The suspects attempted to flee the parking lot after officers started to block the exits.

The suspect first crashed into a community member’s vehicle before ramming the HPD vehicle.

The two occupants attempted to run away but were arrested after a short pursuit. Police report that the 18-year-old suspect was found with a stolen firearm.

There were no injuries to the suspects or officer.

The vehicle had been reported stolen from the Charlottesville area.

Charges are pending for both suspects. No names have been released.
