Harrisonburg Schools serves free food to all children through summer months

Harrisonburg City Public Schools will continue to serve meals at no charge to children 18 and under during summer at school locations and via its Mobile Café routes.

Children joining the school system for summer programming will be served breakfast and lunch as part of their school day. Children who are not attending summer programming may come to any school or mobile café location during the times below to receive a meal.

Meals will be provided on a first come, first served basis.

Daily Mobile Café routes are back for summer 2025. Lunch is available Mondays to Fridays at no cost to children up to the age of 18 from June 16 to July 25 (closed June 19 and July 4).

Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability or age, and no discrimination will be permitted in the course of the meal service.

Rebecca J. Barnabi is the national editor of Augusta Free Press. A graduate of the University of Mary Washington, she began her journalism career at The Fredericksburg Free-Lance Star.
