Harrisonburg man dead following moped crash on Reservoir Street on Tuesday

A 66-year-old man is dead following a moped crash on Reservoir Street in Harrisonburg Tuesday afternoon.

Robert Jones, 66, of Harrisonburg, was the operator of the moped; lifesaving measures were performed but Jones was pronounced deceased at Sentara RMH Medical Center.

According to the Harrisonburg Police Department, Jones lost control of the moped and struck a curb while traveling westbound near Holly Court at approximately 3:15 p.m. yesterday.

Harrisonburg Fire Department and Harrisonburg Rescue Squad members responded to the scene to assist the HPD.

The investigation is ongoing.

The HPD accident reconstruction team and the Harrisonburg Fire Department are still collecting information to determine the exact circumstances that led to the crash.
