‘Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?’ with the Wayne

Chris Graham

An assortment of tasty and delightful desserts will top off the evening for The Wayne Theatre Alliance’s “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?” dining event. Fine pastries and other treats donated by bakers from Albemarle and Augusta counties will temp diners already filled from gourmet meals served at 16 host homes during the Sunday, May 17, event.

Seven bakers, including Albemarle Baking Company, Bittersweet Bakery, Country Cupboard Catering, Hot Cakes, Mrs. Rowe’s, Perfect Flavors and Short & Sweet Bakery, are donating the tasty treats for guests’ after-dinner enjoyment. Desserts will be served at the home of Tracy & Judy Aitcheson at the end of the evening.

The event will feature splendid food and fine wines prepared and donated by professional chefs from the area, including: Peg Anderson, Fishburne Military School; Laura Cash, Stone Soup Books & Cafe; Travis Dotson, Lovingston Café; Chris Faris, Bentley Commons; Rodney Faris, The Edge; Ken Harnad, USFood Service; Michael Hinrichs, Waynesboro Country Club; Hans Hoffman, Byers Street Bistro; Hadley Katzenbach, Superior Quality Foods; Joshua Nabor, The Dining Room; Craig Nargi, Craig Nargi Catering; Mark Newsome, The Joshua Wilton House; Linda Roland, South River Grill & Wine Shop; Eric Stamer, Eric Stamer Catering, Brenda Vann, Simple Elegance Catering; and Patsy Wood, Country Cupboard Catering.

Each diner’s mystery location for dinner will be determined and announced during hors d’oeuvres and drinks from 5 to 6:30pm in the gardens of Humes and Barbara Franklin. Driving directions will be provided and guests will be expected to arrive at their host homes between 6:45 and 7pm. The basic menu at each home will be the same with the chefs using their talent and expertise to prepare the meal “their way.”

Because of space and time limitations the event will host a very limited number of tickets for this once-in-a-lifetime event. For additional information about the event call The Wayne Theatre at 540-943-9999 or go to www.waynetheatre.org. Tickets are $75 per person and may be ordered by calling that same number or emailing [email protected], or sending a check to the WTA, PO Box 1821, Waynesboro, VA 22980. $35 of each ticket is tax-deductible as a contribution. The Wayne Theatre Alliance is a 501(c)3 charitable organization.
