Greenville bank robbed at gunpoint

AFP

A Greenville bank was robbed at gunpoint Friday morning, and the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office is on the lookout for whodunit.
A lone gunman described as a white male, 20 to 30 years old, entered the BB&T Bank on Lee-Jackson Highway in Greenville at 11:22 a.m. The man, brandishing a black semi-automatic pistol, demanded and received cash and herded the three on-duty bank employees into a bathroom before fleeing the bank on foot.

None of the employees were injured during the robbery.

The Augusta County Emergency Communications Center received a bank alarm from the bank at 11:27 a.m. Deputies were on the scene a minute later.

The robber was wearing a dark gray hoodie pullover, blue jeans, a red knit cap, a dark-colored facemask or bandana and white landscaping gloves.

The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office requests that anyone with information on this case call the Sheriff’s Office at 540.245.5333 or Central Shenandoah Crime Stoppers at 800.322.2017.
