Give blood at Sentara RMH during National Blood Donor Month

Contributors

Sentara rmh Medical Center, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, is hosting several blood drives throughout National Blood Donor Month in January.

healthcareAccording to the American Red Cross, donations slow down during the winter months because of seasonal illnesses, holidays and inclement weather. The Red Cross urges donors of all types —especially O negative, A negative and B negative —to donate.

“This is a great way to start 2014,” said Diana Padgett, MD, Sentara rmh Blood Bank medical director. “Make giving blood one of your New Year’s resolutions this year and help save a life.”

The Red Cross will be accepting donations at the following Sentara rmh locations:

  • Sentara rmh Funkhouser Women’s Center, noon-6 p.m., Jan. 20
  • American Red Cross Blood Mobile, Sentara rmh Medical Center Parking Lot A, noon-6 p.m., Jan. 16, 21, 27, 28, 29, 30
  • Sentara rmh Wellness Center, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Jan. 17, 31

Walk-ins are welcome, but donors who register will be given first priority. Register online at redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.
