Virginia-Pitt Series

Virginia owns a 9-3 edge in the series after winning two of three games last season in Cary, N.C. (series moved from Charlottesville because of inclement weather). UVA won two of three game in Pittsburgh April 4-6, 2014, in the teams’ first games as ACC foes. The teams combined for 10 runs in the 2014 series, with both of UVA’s wins coming by shutout, including Nathan Kirby’s no-hitter in Game 1.

Life on the Road

Virginia is in the midst of an eight-game road trip – UVA’s longest stretch of regular-season true road games since 1999. UVA is 3-1 thus far in the trip, including a series win at then-No. 1 Miami.

Noting Pitt

Five Pitt players are batting over .300, led by shortstop Charles Leblanc at .423, which ranks fifth in the ACC. Frank Maldonado is hitting .331, while Alex Kowalczyk stands at .321 with eight home runs, 14 doubles and 36 RBI. The Panthers are batting .293 as a team. Led by ace T.J. Zeuch, Pitt has a 4.47 team ERA. Pitt also owns a .957 fielding percentage.

Up Next

Virginia wraps up its road swing at 7 p.m. Tuesday (May 3) with a non-conference game at Liberty. UVA then will have nine days off for final exams before returning to action May 13-15 at home against No. 25 Georgia Tech.
