Game Notes: JMU football to face Stony Brook on Saturday

jmu logoJMU football will take to the road for its next Colonial Athletic Association contest with stony brook on Saturday.

The Coaches: James Madison Head Coach Everett Withers (Appalachian State, ’86) is in his first season at JMU with a 6-3 mark and second as a head coach overall with a 13-9 record.
stony brook Head Coach Chuck Priore (Albany, ’82) is in his ninth season with the Seawolves with a 56-45 record and 14th year as a head coach with a 95-54 mark.

History With Stony Brook: The Dukes and Seawolves met for the first time in school history last year, with visiting stony brook pulling out a 41-38 win at Bridgeforth Stadium. This will be JMU’s first visit to LaValle Stadium and the second this season to the state of New York, having won at UAlbany earlier this season.

Can It BE Any Tougher?: JMU sports one of the toughest schedules in FCS football, with three opponents currently ranked in the top 25 of at least one poll and two others receiving votes in each. JMU played four consecutive weeks against a team that was either ranked or receiving votes at the time of the game, going 2-2 in that stretch. Now 3-2 versus ranked teams after last week’s win versus No. 16 William & Mary, the final contest in that category is the road game at No. 8 Richmond next Saturday.
