Foschini announces for Beverley Manor School Board seat

The race for the Beverley Manor District seat on the Augusta County School Board has a second write-in candidate.

Chris Foschini announced on Thursday that he has launched a write-in campaign for the seat. Roger Zirkle, who had represented the district on the School Board since 2003, died this week after a long battle with cancer.

Foschini said he feels the district needs a conservative alternative at the polls in Tuesday’s election. Lee Godfrey, who ran for the Beverley Manor seat on the Augusta County Board of Supervisors in 2007, is the other write-in candidate in the race.

Foschini pledged to support Weekday Religious Education, keeping elementary schools in Ladd and Beverley Manor open and integrating technology into county classrooms.

His biggest concern is that young people graduating at the high school level do not have sufficient education about money management. Foschini said he would push for mandatory financial education before graduation.

“Our country’s financial crisis is a result of poor money and debt management. Part of the solution must be educating our young people to make wise decisions and planning when it comes to their financial future,” Foschini said.
