Former Richmond basketball standout Kendall Anthony to play professionally in Turkey

ur-spiders1Former Richmond standout Kendall Anthony ‘15 will continue his basketball career as a professional player in Turkey.

Anthony has signed on to play with Gelisim Koleji in the Turkish TB2L league. His team is based out of Izmir, Turkey.

A native of Jackson, Tennessee, Anthony follows a long line of Richmond players that have earned professional contracts overseas. At least one graduating player from nine of head coach Chris Mooney’s 10 seasons has signed a pro contract.

“I’m so blessed to sign a professional contract in Turkey,” Anthony said. “Playing professionally has long been a dream of mine, and I can’t wait to get over there and get started.”

Anthony finished his Richmond career this spring ranked fourth all-time with 1,909 career points. He set a new program record with 270 career three-pointers, and finished sixth all-time in field goals, seventh in free throws, fifth in free throw percentage and sixth in three-point percentage.

This past season, Anthony earned All-Atlantic 10 First Team honors and was tabbed NABC All-District First Team and VaSID All-State First Team. He ranked sixth in the conference with 16.4 points per game and was 37th in the nation with 36.5 minutes per contest.
