FMS newTreavor Norman scored 15 points, and Kian Tate and Jordan Jake had 14 each, to lift Fishburne to a season-opening 65-60 win over Legacy Christian in prep basketball Tuesday night.

Legacy Christian led by one at the half, and the game was tight all the way. A pair of free throws by Calen Owens helped give FMS (1-0) a three-point cushion late, a key to the victory.

“The hustle and determination were there,” said FMS coach Bryan Greene. “We made some mistakes, and there are several areas we need to improve on. We did not play up to our potential for several reasons, but we never panicked and never gave up. This is a good sign of things to come with this team.”

The Fishburne varsity team will travel to Grace Christian in Staunton on next Tuesday for a 6 p.m. matchup, preceded by JV opening contest at 4:30.
