Fishburne sponsoring NASCAR entry at Daytona

NASCAR. Fishburne. Daytona. A marriage made in heaven.
“Fishburne Military School is proud to sponsor Mike Wallace and wants to thank him for his dedication and devotion to Fishburne Military School,” said T. Nelson Saunders Jr., chairman of the board of Trustees of the Fishburne Educational Foundation, announcing the news that the Waynesboro-based prep military academy will be sponsoring Wallace’s car for the NASCAR Nationwide Camping World 300.

Wallace is a three-time winner at Daytona International Speedway, taking the Nationwide race in July 2004 following wins in a truck-series race in 2000 and an ARCA/Remax Series event in 1994.

Wallace will also be driving in the 500 on Sunday.

“First, I want to thank Johnny Davis and everyone at JD Motorsports for working with me to put this Nationwide deal together,” Wallace said. “I love racing at Daytona, and having two opportunities to compete there is great. When the Fishburne Military School Board of Directors got together and talked about supporting this one-race deal, they realized it would be a good thing.

“We will carry their slogan of ‘Leadership for Life’ on the No. 01 Chevrolet. It’s a unique sponsorship, and I’m hoping we can do a good job for them,” Wallace said.
