A scary scene inside the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel Monday morning sent the driver of a Dodge Charger to the hospital after going airborne inside the tunnel.

Virginia State Police reports that the unnamed driver was traveling eastbound in the tunnel at a high rate of speed when the Dodge Charger struck an SUV and a box truck, went airborne, skidded to a stop and caught fire.

This went down at 4:38 a.m.

The driver has been charged with reckless driving.

The crash remains under investigation.
