Extras needed for AMC TV series filming in Richmond

tv-clipartExcitement is building as TURN returns for a second season.  The amc television series TURN: Washington’s Spies begins filming in the Central Virginia/Richmond area at the end of September and continues through February 2015.

Here’s an opportunity to be a part of it!  Arvold Casting is looking for reliable locals to work as paid extras.  No experience is required, but extras must have flexible availability, reliable transportation, and a positive attitude.

Arvold Casting is holding an Open Call this Sunday, September 21st, in Richmond, and would love to find some new faces as well as see familiar ones.  All are welcome to attend the Open Call.  Arvold Casting is looking for men, women and children who are Caucasian, African American and Native American who are thin to average build and can realistically portray people living in Revolutionary War times.  Long hair is definitely a plus but not a must.

Michelle Kelly, Extras Casting Director on TURN, is excited about the new process that Arvold Casting is implementing.  “This is rather revolutionary, as far as Open Calls go.  You go online to fill out your information, either before or after you get your picture taken at the Open Call.  By going to our website and completing the form at your leisure, you can take your measurements, look at your calendar — that’s a real advantage.  And we can focus on the most important part of an Open Call, which is meeting great local people and taking great pictures of them.”

Based on Alexander Rose’s book Washington’s Spies, AMC’s TURN: Washington’s Spies tells the untold story of America’s first spy ring.  A historical thriller set during the Revolutionary War, TURN: Washington’s Spies centers on Abe Woodhull (Jamie Bell), a farmer living in British-occupied Long Island who bands together with his childhood friends to form the Culper Ring — an unlikely team of secret agents who not only went on to help George Washington turn the tide of the war but also gave birth to modern spycraft.

OPEN CALL DETAILS:

  • Open Call Date: Sunday, September 21st , 2014
  • Open Call Time for SAG Members Only:  Noon to 1pm
  • Open Call Time for All: 1:00-4:00 PM
  • Open Call Location: 4300 Carolina Avenue, Richmond, VA 23222

The location is near the Richmond International Raceway off E. Laburnum Avenue.  There is plenty of parking on site.   Members of SAG-AFTRA with membership cards have a special Open Call hour for SAG-AFTRA members only, from noon to 1:00pm, and may also arrive during the regular hours and be taken to a special line for SAG-AFTRA members only.  All are welcome between the hours of 1pm to 4pm, both Non-Union and SAG-AFTRA members.
