E.C. Glass High School student in custody after brandishing a gun in fight

A 15-year-old student at E.C. Glass High School has been charged after the juvenile allegedly brandished a firearm during a fight after a basketball game Tuesday night.

The teen is being held at a juvenile detention facility in Lynchburg.

According to police, the male student been charged with:

  • Underage possession of a firearm
  • Brandishing a firearm
  • Possession of a stolen firearm
  • Possession of a firearm on school property

The incident was reported to school staff this morning, and school then notified the Lynchburg Police Department.

The alleged incident took place outside the school’s athletic facilities following a high school game.

School resource officers identified the suspect and worked with staff to remove him from class this morning.

During the investigation, officers conducted a search of the juvenile’s home and recovered a stolen handgun.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
