RINOs out here among our reader base, you might think you’re safe, but fascism doesn’t work that way.
The guy that you’re still thinking about voting for again, Donald Trump, is a fan of Adolf Hitler.
His former chief of staff, Ret. Gen. Mark Kelly, is risking his reputation to tell us that.
Think about that.
Dude is risking his freedom to warn you, and you’re not listening.
Two other former White House staffers are telling the world that they heard Trump say: “I wish I had the kind of generals that Hitler had.”
To be clear, I’m writing this not for those who have already voted for Kamala Harris, or intend to vote for Kamala Harris, nor for those for whom there is nothing that you could be told that Donald Trump has said or did or indicated that he wants to do that would make you think he isn’t a living, breathing, walking god among men.
Ninety percent of us have already made up our minds.
This is for the 10 percent of Republicans and right-of-center independents who swung the 2016 election to Trump, who swung back in 2020 to throw that election to Joe Biden, and are now supposedly back in the middle of the road again.
I’m looking right at you – the people Trump likes to call RINOs.
You’ve heard from the likes of Liz Cheney, the former Republican Wyoming congresswoman, her father, Dick Cheney, George W. Bush’s vice president.
The idea that either of the Cheneys is a RINO is laughable.
They were hardcore far-right Republicans when Trump was still an abortion-rights Democrat.
Denver Riggleman, here in my backyard, a former Republican congressman from Nelson County voted with Trump 97 percent of the time in his one term in Congress, before losing to even-Trumpier Bob Good, who in turn was just bounced from his seat after two terms by a somehow even-Trumpier Republican, John McGuire.
You can’t be Trumpy enough for that side.
Riggleman, the Cheneys, John Kelly, and millions of your fellow Republicans are already on the record saying they’re still Republicans, but they’re voting for Kamala Harris this year, not because they agree with everything or much of anything that she’s proposing policy-wise, but because we all need to stand together to protect our democracy.
The Hitler admirer is telling you what he will do if he gets back in the White House.
He’ll be a dictator.
He’ll put the United States, long the defender of the free world, in league with bad-guy dictators like Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping and Kim Jong Un, because they can help him put more money in his pockets.
Trump thinks fascism is the best method for governing, top-down, no respect for checks and balances, no tolerance for political dissent.
He expects, demands, loyalty.
Reality check: you’re not loyal enough.
He’ll jail his political opponents, Democrats, independents and Republicans – including, one day, eventually, you – among them.
He’ll run the economy into the ground with his disastrous tariffs, which, if you think inflation was bad over the past couple of years, add 20 percent to the cost of everything you’re paying for now, and that’s if you even still have a job to be able to pay your bills – those tariffs are going to put millions out of work.
If the pollsters are right, and I’m not convinced that they are, but let’s go with what they’re saying, this election is as 50/50 as it can be, in spite of all of this.
You don’t have to take it from me; take it from his former chief of staff, John Kelly, or from the guy who is running his 2024 campaign, Chris LaCivita, who, after the Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol, shared two posts on Twitter that pinned the blame for the attacks squarely on Trump.
LaCivita, a VCU alum and former George Allen staffer, is, of course, now trying to deflect on what he said back then.
He’s doing that because he wants to maintain his spot on the inside.
If I’m Chris LaCivita, I still don’t know that I feel all that safe.
It won’t take much for him to get sent to the gulag.
If you’re reading this, and you’re not an insider, you don’t get to rake in millions in commissions, like LaCivita does, for holding your nose and voting for a guy who tells you he wants to be a dictator, who will dismantle 235 years of American progress, entirely because he needs to be in power to avoid dying in jail, broke and penniless.
What you get for your vote is, you pay more for everything, you might lose your job, the country is less safe, and, let’s just say it like it is, one day, not too far out into the future, you’re going to realize that what I’m telling you is spot-on, and you’re going to want to do something to reverse course.
They know you’re not a true believer.
They already call you RINO.
After they round people like me up for speaking out, you’re next.
Your vote for Kamala Harris isn’t a vote for “communism” or “Marxism” or “socialism.”
It’s a vote for preserving your right to be able, in two short years, be able to vote for sensible Republican candidates, who have your back on what you believe in – not the nonsense about Democrats being able to control the weather, space lasers and the rest.
Bookmark this, so that in the event Trump wins, you can remind yourself, in a year or two, that you had a chance to do something, and didn’t.
Actually, you might need to print it out; AFP is among the news websites that are about to get nuked.
You, as a RINO, won’t be too far behind.
