Visulite owner Adam Greenbaum is stepping in to run another Downtown Staunton movie theater that had been slated to close at the end of the month.
Greenbaum will operate The Dixie Theater beginning March 1, the Staunton Performing Arts Center, which owns the space currently used by the Dixie, announced today.

The lease with the current management of The Dixie comes to an end on Feb. 28.

The space will eventually be renovated for reuse as a community performing arts center.

“The Staunton Performing Arts Center wishes to express a tremendous debt of gratitude to the dedicated group of five Staunton citizens, The Dixie Theater Inc., who have leased and operated The Dixie Theater since 2004,” Staunton Performing Arts Center executive director Judy Mosedale said.

“During these years, over 20,000 volunteer hours have been clocked in order to keep the dream of a restored theater and performing arts center in Staunton alive. We are grateful the 200 volunteers who assisted in this effort,” Mosedale said.

“We look forward to this exciting new chapter at the historic Dixie Theater. As a small token of appreciation the Staunton Performing Arts Center will host a thank you event on March 22 for everyone who has volunteered at the Dixie. We very much look forward to thanking everyone in person,” Mosedale said.
