Detour for Route 610 construction in Augusta County beginning Aug. 20

A nine-mile detour is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, August 20, for part of Route 610 (Howardsville Turnpike) in the Stuarts Draft area of Augusta County. Route 610 will be closed to through traffic between Route 912 (Hodge Street) and Campbell Lane. The closure and detour will continue through fall 2018 during the final phases of roadway and public-utility improvements. All work is weather permitting.

Through traffic on Route 610 will use one of the following detours:

• Westbound drivers will turn right on Route 633/634 (Patton Farm Road), left on Route 639 (Wayne Avenue), right on Route 635 (Mount Vernon Road), left on Route 340 (Stuarts Draft Highway), and left on Route 608 (Draft Avenue) to return to Route 610.
• Eastbound drivers will go west on Route 610, continue straight onto Route 608 (Draft Avenue), turn right on Route 340 (Stuarts Draft Highway), right on Route 635 (Mount Vernon Road), left on Route 639 (Wayne Avenue), and right on Route 634/633 (Patton Farm Road) to return to Route 610.

Route 660 (Lake Road) just south of the Route 610 intersection will also be closed. Route 660 drivers will use Route 912 to access Route 610 just west of the work zone.

Signs and electronic message boards will advise drivers of the closures and detour routes. Residents, school buses and emergency vehicles will continue to have access to Route 610.
