lambertFrank Raymond Lambert Jr., 52 , was charged by Waynesboro Police yesterday with assault and falsely identifying himself to a law enforcement officer.

Responding at approximately 2:40 p.m. to Gio’s Treasures in the 100 block of Eighth Street for a report of a man brandishing a knife, officers found Lambert being restrained by employees of the business who had disarmed him. The owner reported that he entered his business, which was open to the public at the time, to find Lambert standing inside.

Lambert began accusing the owner of calling the police. He then produced a knife while he continued his tirade, threatening all inside. At this time another employee disarmed Lambert and several more restrained him while police were summoned.

Upon arrival of officers Lambert was detained and asked to identify himself. He gave a false name and social security number but was subsequently positively identified.

Lambert was arrested for the two city charges and an outstanding arrest warrant from Staunton PD for malicious wounding.  He was held without bond.
