DuPont Community Credit Union now has two certified financial counselors who recently completed the Credit Union National Association Financial Counseling Program. Lindsey Megginson, Marketing Manager, and Sarah Landram, Financial Educator, were recently awarded certificates from CUNA

“We are proud of both Lindsey and Sarah for their commitment in becoming certified financial counselors,” said Steve Elkins, DCCU Senior Vice President for Retail & Lending. “This certification will enhance the Credit Union’s financial education program and workshops, which we provide to our members and to the communities we serve.”

Both Megginson and Landram completed the CUNA Financial Counseling Certification Self-Study Program through the Virginia Credit Union League. The sixth-month program was based on a group study effort with hands-on learning and networking experiences. Topics covered in the certification program included: taxes, insurance and investments; controlling living expenses and understanding consumer credit; matching values to money, and retirement and special issues.

DCCU offers financial education opportunities to both members and members of the public. In addition to working with schools, organizations and groups to promote financial education, the Credit Union also offers a number of workshops on a monthly basis including:

– How to Balance a Checkbook
– Home Banking and Bill Payer
– Fraud Prevention
– Get It In Gear (For first-time youth car buyers)
