“Crossfire” co-host Van Jones to speak at Bridgewater College

van jonesVan Jones, co-host of CNN’s Crossfire, will speak on Monday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 p.m., in Cole Hall at Bridgewater College. The program, sponsored by the Kline-Bowman Endowment Fund for Creative Peacebuilding, is free and open to the public.

Jones is president and co-founder of Rebuild the Dream, an organization that engages in political advocacy.

A Yale-educated attorney, Jones has written two books, The Green Collar Economy and Rebuild the Dream. In 2009, Jones worked as the green jobs adviser to the obama white house.

Jones has received numerous awards, including being named to Rolling Stones’s “12 Leaders Who Get Things Done” in 2012,Time magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in the World” in 2009, Fast Company’s “12 Most Creative Minds on Earth” andEssence magazine’s “25 Most Inspiring African Americans” in 2008.

Jones is the founder of Green for All, a national organization working to get green jobs to disadvantaged communities, and the co-founder of two social and political advocacy organizations: the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights and Color of Change.

Bridgewater College is a private, four-year liberal arts college, located in the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Founded in 1880, it was the state’s first private, coeducational college. Today, Bridgewater College is home to approximately 1,800 undergraduate students.
