Compass Shakespeare Ensemble presents Troilus and Cressida

theater masks2Compass Shakespeare Ensemble presents a small-scale performance of Shakespeare’s Troilus and Cressida.  The Trojan War is in stalemate. Seven years of fighting has stalled into boredom and resentment. Amongst the famed heroes of mythology, Troilus and Cressida have met and fallen in love, but politics and family allegiances threaten to tear them apart. This sweeping tragedy examines passion, loyalty and duty amidst the imposing backdrop of history’s most famous war.

A “small-scale” show is a performance in which a cast of four to five actors portray twenty to thirty characters. This unique staging convention challenges actors in a myriad of ways– actors are tasked with creating multiple characters and physicalities and often find themselves talking – or even fighting – with themselves onstage.

This event is a rare and must-see occurrence in CSE’s performance season. Don’t miss this opportunity to watch the old phrase “All’s fair in love and war” get pushed to the limit!

Troilus and Cressida begins its season/tour on Sunday, December 4th at 8:00pm, at The Kettle, located at 16 West Beverley Street in Staunton. A suggested donation of $5 in support of our season’s mission may be offered at the door. For more information visit our website at www.MBUCSE.com.
