There are two potential chances for snow this week, though one weather expert believes it will likely be more of a nuisance than anything else in the Shenandoah Valley.
The outlook is more typical of January with colder temperatures and a chance for snow throughout much of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.
On Wednesday, a storm will bring light rain to the Shenandoah Valley, according to Thomas Kines, a senior meteorologist with AccuWeather.
“As colder air returns Wednesday night or Thursday, there can be snow mixed in or even a changeover to all snow, but if any snow did accumulate it would be less than an inch,” he said.
There is also potential for a storm to form along the Mid-Atlantic coast this weekend. Widespread snow is possible in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast though current models do not show Virginia getting the brunt of the storm.
“If that were to happen, there could be some snow for the Shenandoah Valley either Saturday or Sunday – probably more of a nuisance storm than one that would cause havoc.”
While mild temperatures are expected through Wednesday, the last few days of the week will likely be chillier, Kines said.
