Cocktail historian Philip Greene to speak at New Dominion Bookshop on Nov. 30

New Dominion BookshopNew Dominion Bookshop in Charlottesville will host a book talk and cocktail tasting with author and cocktail historian Philip Greene on Friday, Nov. 30, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Greene will speak about his new book, A Drinkable Feast: A Cocktail Companion to 1920s Paris, and will share compelling photos, excerpts, and anecdotes from the era. Admission will be the cost of the book plus tax ($18.95). RSVPs are requested and should be sent to [email protected].

Join author and cocktail historian Philip Greene as he takes you back to the golden era of 1920s Paris. Enjoy an authentic cocktail from the Paris Ritz while learning about the likes of Hemingway, Scott & Zelda Fitzgerald, Cole Porter, James Joyce, Pablo Picasso, and many other luminaries of the artistic and creative world—particularly what they were drinking and where they were drinking. A Q&A and book signing will follow.

About the book: Paris in the 1920s was home to the greatest collection of artists, poets, socialites, writers, dancers, musicians, and other creative types of the 20th Century. A Drinkable Feast: A Cocktail Companion to 1920s Paris is a collection of classic cocktails, anecdotes, excerpts from the pages of literature and memoirs, vintage ads and photos, and authentic recipes from the period.

About the Author: Philip Greene is one of the founders of the Museum of the American Cocktail in New Orleans and the author of To Have and Have Another: A Hemingway Cocktail Companion and A Drinkable Feast: A Cocktail Companion to 1920s Paris. He is a sought-after speaker on topics within cocktail history, as well as a mixology consultant for restaurants and institutions across the world. He is a regular cocktail columnist for The Daily Beast. He lives in Washington, DC, with his wife and three daughters.
