Chris Jericho may not be WWE-bound, as we had previously thought

It was assumed in the final weeks of 2025 that Chris Jericho was WWE-bound. So much for what we were all assuming.

Fightful Select is reporting that Jericho is still under contract with AEW, even as he has been off TV since losing the Ring of Honor World title to Bandido in April.

At issue: Jericho wants the freedom to continue his outside projects, for example, his tours with his metal band, Fozzy, which will bring him to Waynesboro for a show in May.

WWE isn’t big on its talents doing their own thing outside of their company deals, despite treating their contracted talents as independent contractors, so they don’t have to do things like pay them benefits.

Cheap, isn’t it, of a multibillion-dollar company, to skimp on benefits for its people, who regularly take massive bumps, in and out of the ring, in addition to the regular travel, across the country and all over the world.

Anyway.

If Jericho wants to continue his outside projects – in addition to Fozzy, he makes money with a weekly podcast, and an annual wrestling-themed cruise – it’s AEW or bust.
