Chris Graham | Tuesday is Generals Day

Chris Graham

It’s six weeks and change until the first pitch of the 2009 Valley League baseball season, and the Waynesboro Generals need … you.
Come find out how you can be a part of what we’re doing Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Waynesboro Public Library in Meeting Room A, where we’ll be hosting a Town Hall Meeting with the Waynesboro-Augusta community to talk about our plans for the season and how you can fit into those plans.

Owner Jerry Carter and I will be on hand to talk about the variety of on-the-field, game-night and off-the-field activities that will keep us busy and engaged with Generals business the next few months.

We’ll also be doing some recruiting, as you might guess. The area of most pressing need comes in providing housing for our players. We try to link our players up with host families who have an extra bedroom or finished garage or basement apartment space to share free of charge for the summer.

We can also use help on game nights at the concession stand, taking tickets, cleaning up after the games and some other things I’m sure I’m overlooking.

Jerry will also be available at the Augusta Free Press Publishing office at 539 W. Main St., Downtown Waynesboro, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and then throughout the business day to meet with people who might have a scheduling conflict Tuesday night.

Feel free to give Jerry a call at 540.860.1115 or give me a call at 540.949.6574 if you want to talk Generals baseball with us any time.

The clock is ticking to Friday, June 5th.
