The Charlottesville Department of Utilities will conclude its series of listening sessions for the Charlottesville Gas Decarbonization Study on Thursday, Aug. 22.

The department began working with the consulting firm Black & Veatch in 2023 to responsibly and accurately determine how its natural gas utility can help meet community greenhouse gas reduction goals, and public input is essential to this comprehensive analysis.

The first two listening sessions saw a solid turnout from residents and business owners from both Charlottesville and Albemarle County.

Those attending this third listening session will learn about Charlottesville’s climate goals, gain insights into the Charlottesville Gas Utility and its existing programs, and receive highlights on the gas decarbonization study, with the majority of the session reserved for the community to provide feedback relevant to the study.

This final session will occur in-person on Thursday, Aug. 22 from 6-7:15 p.m. at CitySpace on the Downtown Mall. Validated parking for the session will be available at the Market Street Garage located at 546 E. Market St., directly above CitySpace.

For more information and to register for the session, go to www.tinyurl.com/CvilleGasStudy.

If you need help with registration, call Utilities Outreach at 434-970-3686.
