Charlottesville TEDx event returns Nov. 8: Tickets on sale this Friday

TEDxCharlottesvilleTEDxCharlottesville and Starr Hill Presents, in partnership with CFA Institute and the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation, will present another dynamic TEDxCharlottesville program at the historic Paramount Theater in downtown Charlottesville on Friday, Nov. 8.

Following the success of sell-out events in recent years, the all-volunteer committee is thrilled to present a conference in the spirit of ideas worth spreading.

“CFA Institute and TEDxCharlottesville are partnering to bring ‘ideas worth spreading’ to our vibrant and innovative city,” said Kelli Palmer, Head of Corporate Citizenship at CFA Institute. “TEDxCharlottesville creates a space to bring people together from all backgrounds to share ideas and spur conversations that spark creativity, promote insight, and inspire change.”

The conference will include a wide array of speakers and performers, with a full list to be announced soon. The speaker lineup currently includes the below, with more to be announced in coming weeks:

  • Béatrice Coron – Visual Storyteller
  • John Biewen – host and producer of the Peabody Award-nominated podcast Scene on Radio
  • Dr. Gail C. Christopher, D.N. – President & Founder, The Ntianu Center for Healing & Nature
  • Sahara Clemens – Multimedia Artist, Designer, and Activist
  • Kerry David – Producer, Writer, Director
  • Dan Giusti – Culinary Chef, Founder of Brigaid
  • Lewis Miller – Floral & event designer, creator of The Flower Flash
  • Christine Platt – Race, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (REDI) Expert
  • Drew Ramsey – Psychiatrist, Author and Farmer
  • Craig Richard – ASMR Research Scientist

To make the TEDxCharlottesville event as accessible as possible, 200 complimentary tickets will be distributed to educational and non-profit groups in the community.

TICKET INFORMATION: Tickets go on sale this Friday, Sept. 6 at 10 a.m. and will be available at TEDxCharlottesville.com. General admission tickets will be available for $88.00 (plus a $2.50 facility fee) and include: access to all speakers and experiences, a continental breakfast, complimentary lunch and a post-event party.

LIMITED NUMBER OF EARLY BIRD TICKETS – AVAILABLE SEPT. 4: Purchase early and get a ticket for $78.00 (plus a $2.50 facility fee), $10.00 off a regular price ticket. A limited amount of ‘early bird’ tickets will be available beginning Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 10 a.m. through Thursday, Sept. 5 at 10 p.m. General admission tickets go on sale on Friday, Sept. 6 at 10 a.m.

SAVE THE DATE FOR OPEN MIC NIGHT: Open Mic Night at The Jefferson Theater will take place on Monday, September 30. At this free event, participants will be chosen to give their best four-minute TEDxCharlottesville talk for a chance to win a spot on stage at the main event in November. Interested participants are asked to email their best 2-minute video submission via YouTube link to openmic@tedxcharlottesville.com by Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 12am/midnight. Written submissions (500 word limit, please) are also accepted. Open Mic Night Speakers will be chosen by Monday, Sept. 23.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
