Charlottesville: Man found in roadway in serious condition after altercation near Preston Avenue

A man is in serious condition at the University of Medical Center after a fight in Charlottesville in the area of 4th Street NW and Preston Avenue last night.

According to the Charlottesville Police Department, patrol officers were flagged down at approximately 9:21 p.m. regarding the victim who was lying in the roadway and unresponsive.

Officers performed life-saving measures on the victim until medical personnel arrived.

Timothy Woode, 41, of Charlottesville, was identified as the person involved in the 4th Street altercation. The victim has not been identified.

According to the CPD, Woode had outstanding charges unrelated to this incident and was taken into custody on those warrants.

In last night’s incident, Woode is being charged with assault and battery.
