A major funding announcement related to housing will take place on Thursday at noon at the Habitat for Humanity office in Charlottesville.

A senior U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development official will travel to the Virginia Habitat location to announce first-of-its kind funding that will be used to preserve and revitalize manufactured housing and manufactured housing communities in Virginia.

HUD General Deputy Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and Development Claudette Fernandez will join Habitat for Humanity representatives for the announcement.

Fernandez will also tour the Southwood community, meet with residents and highlight an organization in Virginia that will receive funding to support low- and-moderate income homeowners and residents in manufactured units.
