The regional BRITE Bus transit service will be making changes to its loops, and to the Staunton Downtown Trolley, that will go into effect on Friday.

The former North Loop and West Loop that operated as two 30-minute loops will now be combined into one, one-hour loop, renamed the West/North Loop. The new one-hour loop will not travel to the Lewis Street Hub in Staunton at the top of the hour (between the Gypsy Hill House and Elm Street stops), and will now have a call stop located at Middlebrook Trace apartments (Middlebrook Avenue/ Moore Street).

The hours of operation will also change to align with more connections to other BRITE routes.

The new hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The integration of these new changes is being implemented to better serve riders.

As a part of this change, three stops that are on the current West Loop will now be served by the Staunton Downtown Trolley route – Booker T. Washington Community Center, Walnut Street/ Montgomery Avenue, and Sudbury Street/ West Johnson Street.

Additionally, the BRITE Trolleys (Downtown and Saturday Night) will begin their winter hours starting the same day, on Friday.

Hours of operation will be:

  • Downtown Trolley: Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday Night Trolley: Saturday, 6-9 p.m.
