Dr. Bobbi G. Gentry, associate professor of political science at Bridgewater College, will present “Introduction to 2024 Presidential Candidates” at the main branch of the Augusta County Library on Thursday, Oct. 24, from 6 to 7 p.m.
The presentation will be a non-partisan, informative presentation about the candidates for Election 2024.
The workshop is part of the Augusta County Library’s “VoteGo” series, which comprises a variety of voter engagement and preparation workshops and presentations. The ACL aims to provide all members of the community a safe and constructive place to find the information and resources they need to participate in democracy.
Gentry is an expert on youth voting behavior and the author of “Why Youth Vote: Identity, Inspirational Leaders and Independence“ (Springer, 2018). In 2022, she received a $20,000 grant to launch the Valley Votes Project to improve trust in elections in the Shenandoah Valley through voter education, voter registration and a speaker series focused on how elections work. She received a second $20,000 grant in 2023 for BC Votes, a program to engage local students in registering voters and organizing student-directed voter engagement efforts with the goal of creating the next generation of civic leaders.
Augusta County Library is at 1759 Jefferson Highway, Fishersville, and Gentry’s talk is free and open to the public.
