bridgewater collegeA business expo designed to help connect Bridgewater College students with local businesses and residents will be held Sept. 7 from 3-6 p.m. in the Boitnott Room and Kline Campus Center (KCC) lobby on the college campus.

The event, which is sponsored by the BC student chapter of the Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization and the Greater Ashby Business Council of the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce, is free and open to the public.

This year the event will also host the Part-Time Job Fair, sponsored by the Bridgewater College Office of Career Services. The purpose of the fair is to help Bridgewater students look for part-time employment in the Harrisonburg-Bridgewater-Rockingham County and Augusta County areas.

“The business expo is designed to help strengthen BC’s relationships with the community,” said faculty adviser Maria V. Lugo, an assistant professor of economics and business administration at Bridgewater. “This year we will have the participation of more than 25 local businesses, many of whom participated last year.”

Each business at the expo will have tables for displaying information about products or services. Students and residents who attend will be able to browse the tables, meet owners and managers and learn about products and services. Many of the participating businesses will offer giveaways and door prize drawings. Additionally, the expo will feature door prizes for the event as a whole.
