Developing: Trump dumps Kristi Noem from Homeland Security post

Kristi Noem is out as Homeland Security Secretary, getting the Cricket treatment from Donald Trump, who announced on Thursday that he will be naming her “Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas,” which might actually be worse than being buried at the bottom of a gravel pit.

Trump signaled that he will nominate Oklahoma MAGA Sen. Markwayne Mullin to replace Noem at Homeland Security, giving Democrats an opportunity to hijack what promises to be a high-profile Senate confirmation hearing, and filibuster the crap out of the final vote.

It won’t stop Mullin from getting the job, but it will give the Ds a chance to make and prove several points about how the Trump regime is using immigration policy as an excuse to tear America asunder.

Update: Thursday, 3:53 p.m. U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner, D-Va., issued the following statement after President Trump fired Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem:

“Kristi Noem should never have been put in that position in the first place. She was unprepared for the responsibility of the job, and the consequences of that have been clear for some time. Her firing is long overdue.”

Update: Thursday, 5:02 p.m. Rep. Suhas Subramanyam, D-10th District, released the following statement after President Trump announced he has fired Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem:

“Kristi Noem should have been fired a long time ago. Her corruption, self-dealing, and tolerance and advocacy for lawlessness at ICE were sufficient grounds for termination.

On top of that, she fired high-performing, experienced federal workers and contractors in our community who kept our country safe. She was never fit to serve, and the Department needs a capable, qualified leader who will lead this agency forward and help protect the American people.”
