Bedford County: State Police investigating two fatal accidents, a half-hour apart

Virginia State Police is investigating two fatal car accidents within a half-hour of each other in Bedford County on Sunday.

The first was reported at 5:10 p.m. on Hardy Road. According to VSP, a 2022 Honda Accord was traveling south on Hardy Road when the vehicle crossed the center-line and struck a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado head-on.

The driver of the Honda was identified as Bryant Wheeler Whitby, 52, of Moneta. Whitby was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

The 18-year-old driver of the Chevrolet was transported to the hospital for injuries received in the crash.

The second was reported at 5:35 p.m. on Rocky Ford Road. According to State Police, a 2016 Jeep Wrangler was traveling west on Rocky Ford Road when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree, ejecting the driver.

The driver of the Jeep was identified as Adam Clint Terrell, 45, of Goodview. Terrell died at the scene.

Alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
