Baltimore rallies to top Tampa Bay, 6-3

baltimore oriolesA two-run Chris Davis single put Baltimore on top to stay in a 6-3 win over Tampa Bay on Friday.

Three runs actually scored on the Davis RBI hit in the sixth. Jonathan Schoop and Manny Machado scored on the base hit, and Mark Trumbo scored on a throwing error, turning a 3-2 O’s deficit into a 5-3 lead.

Adam Jones (.247/.294/.443) hit a solo homer earlier in the sixth inning, his 14th of the year. Machado (.320/.385/.615) also homered, his 18th, in his first game back from a four-game suspension for his role in a brawl last month.

Yovani Gallardo (2-1, 6.04 ERA) got a no-decision in the start for Baltimore (42-30), giving up three runs on seven hits in five and a third innings, striking out three and walking two.

Ashur Tolliver (1-0, 5.79 ERA) vultured the win in relief, getting two outs ahead of the four-run sixth-inning rally.

Zach Britton (22 saves, 0.85 ERA) pitched a scoreless ninth to close out the game.
