Baltimore scored three runs in the first, and made them hold up in a 3-2 win over Texas on Wednesday.
Neither team scored after the top of the second in this one, actually. Carlos Beltran hit his 23rd homer of the season to put Texas (62-46) on top in the first, and Baltimore (61-45) answered with an RBI groundout by Mark Trumbo (.267/.319/.535, 30 HR, 76 RBI) and a two-run single by Matt Wieters (.240/.298/.392, 10 HR, 42 RBI).
The Rangers added a run in the second on an RBI single by Jonathan Lucroy (.297/.358/.477, 13 HR, 51 RBI).
And that was it.
Kevin Gausman (3-8, 4.08 ERA, 1.31 WHIP) got the win, giving up two runs on seven hits in seven innings, striking out seven and walking two.
Zach Britton (33 saves, 0.59 ERA, 0.77 WHIP) got the save with a scoreless ninth.
