Baltimore gets key win at Detroit, 11-3

baltimore oriolesBaltimore jumped on Detroit starter Jordan Zimmerman early in an 11-3 Orioles win over the Tigers on Saturday.

The win pushes the O’s (77-64) a game ahead of Detroit (76-65) in the race for the second AL wild-card spot.

Adam Jones (27), Chris Davis (36) and Matt Wieters (14) each homered in the first two innings off Zimmerman.

Wieters (.244/.301/.405, 14 HR, 58 RBI) had two homers and five RBIs on the night.

Ubaldo Jimenez (7-11, 5.98 ERA, 1.65 WHIP) continued his late-season resurgence, getting the win with seven solid innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out four and walking three.

Jimenez has won his last two starts, and Baltimore has recorded wins in his last three starts.
