Bad News for WWE: Barrett undergoes surgery, out for several months

Chris Graham

wweAdd another big name to the WWE disabled list: Wade Barrett underwent shoulder surgery Wednesday after suffering an injury during a TV taping last week and will be out for several months for rehab.

Barrett, the WWE Intercontinental Champion, was in the midst of a months-long big push with his new “Bad News” character that had him over big time with fans. The Intercontinental Title has been vacated and will be filled at a battle royale at Battleground.

Barrett joins an all-star group of WWE stars on the shelf. Daniel Bryan, who won the WWE and World Titles at WrestleMania 30, has already undergone one surgical procedure for a neck injury, is looking at a possible second surgery, and could be out for as much as a year. Former champs Rey Mysterio and Mark Henry have been out of action for months with no return dates in sight. Another former champ, Christian, is likely done in-ring due to ongoing concussion issues, and yet another former champ, Dolph Ziggler, has seen his push slowed significantly due to his own issues with concussions.

You could almost also add CM Punk to the injured list if you counted mental and physical exhaustion as injuries.
