criminal minds in real timeThis week marks the nationwide release of Criminal Minds in Real Time, an illuminating new book by author Mark O’Connell.

With so many television shows portraying the lives of criminals and those who bring them to justice, has one ever wondered what goes on inside the minds of those who commit crime? What was their rationale for their behavior? Why are some people short-term offenders while others spend most of their lives in the criminal justice system?

In “Criminal Minds in Real Time,” O’Connell tells the true and sometimes strange stories collected over 25 years from those who ran afoul of the law. While one may be quick to judge those who commit crime, sometimes, only a thin line exists between those who live law-abiding lives and those who do not. After reading “Criminal Minds in Real Time,” you will understand why it’s been said that, “Truth is stranger than fiction” and “But for the grace of God, there go I.”

Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the book is available through bookstores nationwide, from the publisher atwww.tatepublishing.com/bookstore, or by visiting barnesandnoble.com or amazon.com.

O’Connell recently retired from Virginia’s Department of Community Corrections after serving as an adult probation officer for 25 years. He spent the majority of that time preparing presentence investigation reports on defendants used at sentencing hearings for the circuit courts he served and also a number of Victim Impact Statements.

In conjunction with that career, he began working as both a sports correspondent for local newspapers and as a play-by-play sports announcer for a local television station. He continues to work in those capacities and lives with his wife, Diana, in Somerset, Virginia.
