Augusta Health recognized for vaccine compliance

Chris Graham

Augusta Health has been recognized by the Virginia Department of Health  for Outstanding Compliance from the Virginia Vaccines for Children program.   Successful compliance and certification with this program ensures free vaccines for the local community.  During the annual Quality Assurance site visit, Augusta Health was commended for successfully implementing all 29 program requirements.

The site visit reviewed Augusta Health’s immunization procedures and program operations, and ensured that federal and state guidelines for vaccinations have been followed for administering vaccines to eligible populations, correctly handling and storing vaccines and reducing vaccine waste.  The survey visit by Virginia Vaccines for Children staff included chart audits and staff interviews.

Augusta Health is an independent, nonprofit community hospital whose mission is to promote the health and well-being of our community through access to excellent care.  Named one of the 100 Top Hospitals in America by Thomson Reuters in both 2011 and 2012, Augusta Health has also been nationally recognized by HealthGrades as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for clinical excellence and patient safety.
