Contractors are beginning work this week at two intersections in the Route 254 corridor in Augusta County, which will lead to delays for motorists.
The work will be at the intersections with Route 262/254 (Woodrow Wilson Parkway/New Hope Road) and Route 792 (Indian Mound Road/Balsley Road).
Construction is scheduled to start next spring at Route 640 (Old White Bridge Road).
At all three work zones, drivers should expect flagger traffic control with rumble strips at the intersection approaches on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Initial activities in include survey work, sign installation and stormwater drainage.
Improvements at the three intersections include additional turn lanes, reconstruction of nonstandard approaches, and sight-distance enhancements.

In October, a $2.5 million construction contract was awarded to S.L. Williamson Co. Inc. of Charlottesville.
Final completion of the project is scheduled for June 2026.
