Augusta County: Stuarts Draft woman walking on Tinkling Springs Road killed

A 40-year-old Augusta County woman is dead following a crash Friday night in Stuarts Draft.

Crystal Sherry Gonyier, 40, died at the accident scene in the 2300 block of Tinkling Springs Road.

According to Virginia State Police, troopers responded to a report of a vehicle-pedestrian crash at approximately 10:40 p.m. Gonyier was walking in the westbound travel lane of Tinkling Springs Road when she was struck by the driver of a GMC Envoy who was also travelling westbound.

The driver of the GMC, Deana Lynette McAuley-Cole, 45, of North Chesterfield, was not injured. Speed and impairment are not considered factors in the crash.

McAuley-Cole was not charged with any moving violations; however, she was charged with driving on a suspended license.

Virginia State Police crash reconstruction troopers responded to assist with the investigation.

The crash remains under investigation.
