The first Shenandoah Cabaret benefit, back in 2023, led to the establishment of the Performing Arts Enrichment Fund, a scholarship that helps aspiring performing arts students in middle and high school obtain educational experiences in music, theatre and dance during the summer.

The Cabaret is back at it with its 2025 event, “Something Beautiful,” which will benefit the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.

“Something Beautiful” will highlight the 19th annual Hunger Symposium at Blue Ridge Community College, with performances set for Friday, Oct. 24, and Saturday, Oct. 25, beginning at 7 p.m. both nights.

Tickets are $20 – all proceeds go directly to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank – and are available at www.brcc.edu/performances.

The “Something Beautiful” setlist features songs originally from musicals, including Waitress, Sunday in the Park with George, Funny Girl, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Avenue Q.

Jennifer Kirkland, one of the co-founders of Shenandoah Cabaret, is the director for the show, which features pianist Kemper McCauley and performers Sandi Floyd Belcher, Diana Black, Daniel Burrows and Jeremy Douylliez-Willis.

“We love performing for its own sake, but it’s that much more meaningful when it helps people in our community get what they need,” says Black, a co-founder of the ensemble. “Food banks all over the United States are hurting right now, and we firmly believe everyone deserves to eat, unconditionally. We’re so honored and happy that Blue Ridge asked us back a third time.”
