A pop-up medical clinic to be held in Augusta County is seeking professionals and support staff for a two-day event in March.

Remote Area Medical delivers free dental, vision and medical care to those in need including dental cleanings, dental extractions, dental X-rays, eye exams, eyeglass prescriptions, eyeglasses made on site, women’s health exams and general medical exams.

All RAM services are free, and no ID is required.

Clinics of this nature remove barriers to assessing healthcare including both the cost and distance to get treatment.

A growing number of families in Virginia and nationwide are feeling a financial pinch due to cutbacks in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program funds and rising costs across the board. The clinic is being offered against the backdrop of ballooning insurance premiums after subsidies that made it more affordable expired on Dec. 31.

The clinic on March 21-22 is hosted by the UVA RAM campus chapter and will be held at Augusta Expo at 277 Expo Road in Fishersville.

RAM is in need of medical, dental and vision professionals, general support staff and volunteers to help with setup and parking. Organizers said it is not required that you work in the medical field to volunteer for general support.

If you would like to volunteer, contact RAM organizers at (865) 579-1530 or www.ramusa.org/volunteer
