Update: Augusta County missing-person case now a death investigation

Update: Friday, 3:13 p.m. A Churchville man who had been reported missing on Tuesday is now the subject of a death investigation led by the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office.

At 9:30 p.m. Thursday, the sheriff’s office responded to a tip to the location of 45-year-old Brannen Jay Moore, who was subsequently found deceased in the Churchville area.

The body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

First report: Thursday, 9:36 a.m. The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance with locating a missing person who was last seen Tuesday in the Churchville area.

Brannen Jay Moore, 45, is 5’10”, 230 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Moore could possibly be operating an older model Oldsmobile sedan.
