A suspect has been named in a shooting that took place on Thursday afternoon killing one on Interstate 85 in Mecklenburg County.
The suspect, Jason Allen Glidewell II, 19, of Bracey, is considered “armed and dangerous,” according to Virginia State Police.
Glidewell is wanted in the criminal investigation in the shooting death of Hunter A. Bates, 20, who died at the scene.
Warrants have been issued for Glidewell for second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Glidewell is described as a White male, five foot seven inches tall, weighing approximately 160 pounds.
He has ties to the Richmond/Henrico area, according to police.
According to VSP, he may be driving a silver 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche with Virginia plates “TFN 1004.”

The fatal shooting occurred on I-85 northbound at the five-mile marker at approximately 3:47 p.m. The victim’s vehicle, a Honda Civic, was found in a culvert off the right side of the road. Bates was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger was transported to an area hospital but was later released.
